Mindful Eating is the core of our program.

What is Mindful Eating?

Among the many treatment modalities used within the Slimworks® program, mindful eating is a major component.  Mindful eating is a conscious way of eating that has its roots in the Eastern concept of mindfulness.  It involves the practice of paying close attention to your thoughts, emotions and body sensations so you can become attuned to and skilled at reading and decoding your body’s hunger language.  This includes nourishing your body when you are physically hungry and stopping when you are comfortably satisfied.

Another essential component is cultivating a self compassionate, patient, and loving attitude to yourself and your body.  By doing so, you will have a peaceful relationship with food and will move from the place of self-loathing in which diets inevitably deposit you, to a place of self love and self compassion.  From this place of inner peace, you will lose excess weight with ease.

By eating mindfully, you will eat and more fully enjoy all the foods you love. No longer will you will you believe that you need to buy into the dieting mentality and angst over your food choices labeling them as “good” or “bad” in order to lose weight.  Instead, you will adopt a new sense of freedom and contentment, mind and body, that comes from having a natural relationship with food.
